The Waffle House Chronicles...

I had a dream last night…

Not sure what last night’s dream meant, but for some reason Jess and I were camping outside our high school with some of my high school friends. The next thing I know we are in a gym and playing hoops and then Dahl and Lloyd come in like they are heroes. We play some ball then we go to my parents house. And Riz shows up. The he whips out his Game Boy SP (which doubles as a holder for smokes) and pulls out a smoke and tries to light it. I hit him and take the smoke and ask what the hell he is doing and he says now that he is thirty he needs to make some changes and he started with smoking. For some reason I wanted to beat the crap out of him so I chased him to the driveway and then I woke up.

Went to Gray’s Tied House last night for the second time. We got a $50 gift certificate on Dine Madison a while ago and we wanted to use up the balance. The first time we went the food sucked but I figured we just ordered wrong. Wrong again. Although we started off right with some cheese curds (that weren’t very ample but were outstanding) it was all downhill from here. They were out of bleu cheese crumbles for my burger, which blew because they were really needed to cover up just how awful the rest of the burger was. Worst in town (along with some place called the Peppermill.) Jess got something called Beerchos. Basically they were nachos served with pico da gallo and a bread bowl of beer cheese. Sound good? Wrong! Awful. The nachos themselves has pick all over them, the combination tasted like Oscar Mayer Olive Loaf but worse. And the pico had something green in it, not peppers, but celery? The beer cheese? Tasted like hair mousse. No lie! Jess ate as many as she could stomach, I had three, just to make sure the first two weren’t something weird. Add in a below average fish fry, awful pizza and crappy bread and butter of our last visit and well, I won’t be going back unless I have to.

Seinfeld is now getting my syndicated TV time, as much as I love the King of Queens, I've seen every epsiode at least twice, so I've switched it up. What syndication do you watch?

Lots of stupid people out there in the world. Makes me pissed at cars even more. Wonder if this is the same as the Swiffer van of a few weeks ago...probably just some bored high-school kids out on break or some drunk bastards.

So I am not a clubber, but love club tracks. This is the hottest thing going right now. Mix in some 90's hip-hop beats with some Ace of Base sounding chick and a bunch of random other stuff and somehow you come up with a sweet hit! I am not a big fan of this video (or almost any video since after Land of Confusion nothing else could compare.)

Man that's hot! Reagan as a puppet? And then as Super Man? And then a Mr. Potatohead lookin' Phil Collins? Legendary!

The accent to the highest point in Colorado is getting closer, and I got some new gear!

The grey shoes for hiking and climbing and the red/brown/clay shoes just for the hell of it! Didn't we used to all have a friend who lived in Merrell (or Merrill?) Yeah, I can't really remember either!

8 hours of work to go before another weekend! I can't wait!

Just another ordinary Wednesday

I picked the correct summer to stop bike racing. It’s been super windy all year and it was really rainy in the early season. Yesterday was the first perfect cycling day I can remember, at there were still 10mph winds going on. Jess and I went for a lunch/errand ride downtown which was a nice diversion from work. Today on my commute in, I hit cycling mile 1000 for the year; a paltry 1800 behind where I was last year at this time. I guess somehow this is supposed to prepare me for Mt Evans which is 31 days away. In other Colorado news, I got my hiking shoes yesterday! Merrell Chameleon Wrap Ventilators. Although I wouldn’t call them attractive they are better looking than I thought they would be which is a plus!

After work yesterday we took the dogs back to the dog park. We saw a very cute brindle boxer named Sable and I was sad I forgot my camera. Sable is 1yo but only weighed like 40lbs and was super fun. We spent over an hour and a half at the park and Chili found some sweet mud and I made him swim again. People were so inspired by my Chili throw that the next thing I know I see a westie and some form of spaniel being tossed in as well. There were two St. Bernards swimming as well and as much as I tried to avoid them, one of them shook his water out within shake range of me and I got wet.

In softball news, we won 20-10 last night after trailing 10-2 coming into the bottom of the fifth, and I was the two scoring both early runs and adding two more before the night was done. 3-4 with 3 singles, 1 fielders choice and 4 runs and a 6-game hitting streak to start the season. No errors either. I guess I have some pretty good game for old-man softball…it basically rewards those who purposely try to and can hit singles. Late volleyball tonight and maybe supper with the Beav on his Madison pass-through as well.

Weekend is starting to shape up nicely too, should be a good time for friends and food and entertainment. The new neighbors move in later this week too, so I’ll probably stare out the window a lot and thank the lucky stars that I am not lugging couches and stuff around. In other moving news, from what I’ve heard, Jerry’s stuff is still in Madison (was supposed to be in Idaho a week ago but as of yesterday it wasn’t even in transit yet) so he should’ve sold his house “fully furnished.” And for his race this weekend it sounds like one of his teammates isn’t it transit yet either! 4 paragraphs of very little, I hope you enjoyed. I wonder what Shiroma is doing right now?

Another weekend down!

Friday was nice and laid-back. Got through some basketball and a day of work and then Jess and I hit Tony Romas. Good food! Made it home and got ready for some game action. Riz was the first one there so we played some cribbage until The Price is Right started. It was a good episode and it was only cheesed up a little. I beat Riz in the showcases! Then we got down to business. Although first I rocked 1-1/2 molasses cookies…thanks Tracy! We played Boggle and I didn’t win. Then we played Buzzword and then some card game that was like adult Uno and once I figured it out, it was pretty fun. I almost forgot, we tried farming beans with 9 people…it didn’t go so well and took forever. It was fun and I think everyone had a good time!

Saturday I got up after 4-1/2 hours of sleep. My breakfast was a Full Throttle. Headed to basketball and saw tons of bikes headed the other way. Suckers! It was the Horribly Hilly Hundreds ride. I did it last year and that was plenty! Basketball was alright, it took a while to get enough to play with and then we had exactly 10 people so I got over 90 minutes straight with no breaks. Got home, showered up and to Odana golf course. First round of golf in two years, I hadn’t even hit balls in well over a year. Struggled the first three holes (8 over) but then it all clicked. I hit the green and scored par on the first Par 3 and then I bogeyed the next hole. Got to a par 5 and had my best drive and best second shot all day. Chipped it to 7 feet from the pin and I drained the birdie putt! I haven’t had a birdie in over 10 years! Started the fade after that finishing bogey (which is still great for me,) double bogey, triple bogey to shoot a 50. Now I am excited to get out and play some more. It was also fun since I was with Jess, Jess’ dad and his friend. It was a fun foursome. Jess played really well so it was fun for her too! And I know her dad loved it! After that we went to the Great Dane for lunch and then came home and chilled and watched Into the Blue. Saturday evening we took the Riz out to the new Buffalo Wild Wings for his birthday! That place is really cool! We played trivia but you could also play Texas Hold-Em on the trivia machines with others in the restaurant. I quickly became the chip leader (on a lucky as ass hand) until Riz accidentally called some guy on a huge bet when he meant to fold (in his defense the console is counter-intuitive.) So that guy became chip leader. We had one hand left so we decided we’d all stay in and front the best hand at our table with chips. It turned out to be Kari, so she won and took down some evil bastard on the far other side of the place! It was a fun evening and Happy 30th Riz! Got home in time to take the dogs to the park quick and then watch the Brewers. A full day!

Sunday I was content to chill. Thoughts of some early am mountain biking fleeted fast when I was sitting on the couch with a TV, newspaper and coffee. Got tons of work done around the house and started playing Bully on PS2. It’s ok so far but if it doesn’t get better soon it’ll overall be pretty lame. Jess almost got the painting done too which is awesome since the area she painted had so many small and weird angles and she did a two tone. Watched some Nascar and Brewers as well. We then went out for Father’s Day with Jess’ parents. We sat outside on a perfect evening at Paisans and then went for some Gelato. Happy Father’s Day to all that fathers out there including mine and my father-in-law! Got home in time to take a late evening trip to the dog park which was a blast!

Now it’s Monday AM…guh!!!
