The Waffle House Chronicles...

It’s over…I did it!

Today at 12:03pm I enjoyed my first ever McRib. It’s been a cultural icon for years, the one limited time food that mattered in history (Taco Bell rolls limited time items a lot and I love the limited time Cheddar Melt McD’s offers occasionally but those are insignificant to pop culture.)

My boss has owed me a free fast food meal for over a year, I informed her Tuesday that she’ll be going to McDonalds at some point this week. Today was the day. She didn’t even ask, she brought back a McRib value meal. So at least I had a Coke and some fries to fall back on.

The sandwich’s appearance didn’t disappoint. It was way too saucy looking and had a large spattering of raw onions of which I removed about ¾ of. The pickles had to stay! It was on. With Bell Biv Devoe’s Do Me on the radio I took my first bite. It was better than I expected. The only weird thing was the texture but after two bites it wasn’t weird anymore. The sauce was good, the pickles were good, the meat stuff was good too. I actually liked it. It actually could’ve used a bit more sauce even.

This item is infinitely better than the other mega-popular limited time item at McD’s (stupid Shamrock Shake…) I’d probably eat one token McRib a year, no more but also no less. I hope they put them back in the rotation. Have you McRibbed yet?

My fiancée told me my blog has sucked recently. Ouch! This post will all be random stuff so hopefully you don’t think this blog sucks anymore…but if you do, suggest something to make it better!

So Bob Barker is leaving the Price is Right. He taught Larkin everything he knew about life. Never has someone been so synonymous with something. I mean Johnny Carson left the Tonight Show. It still is hot. Vince Lombardi left the Packers, they are still playing. But they can’t possibly continue The Price is Right without Bob Barker. So personally, as much as I love the show, I hope that the show goes down with him. Some of the games are lame (I mean how is 3 strikes still a game when they’ve updated about every thing else?) so maybe the time has come? Of course Plinko will be the most popular game ever but I have to lean towards the Race Game as my favorite. I also enjoy the Grand Game and some classic Punchboard and everyone’s other favorite, Cliffhanger.

I heard something this morning I haven’t heard in a long time. My alarm! 5:37 Am. I woke up at 3:45 and thought I would stay awake. I laid there until 4:15 but somehow fell back asleep. I had a dream about an indoor cyclocross race except they forgot to mark the course and we rode through a ravine but since I am built wider than most bike racers, I got stuck as it was too narrow. Then I finally was able to get unstuck and the course just kind of ended. And the race was in Whitewater and it was ran by a sorority (but not in a good way.) So I got pissed and got kicked out of the building and when they brought my bike out to me, it was missing the left half of the handlebars, so then I had more words. Then my alarm.

Oh yeah, I am hoping to lose my McRib virginity soon. Yes, I’ve never had one. I’ve went from being deathly afraid a few years ago to slightly tolerant now but for me not to have one now would be ignorance as I pride myself on having opinions in matters like this. On the plus side I’ll probably get fries with that.

So on my bike ride yesterday I am riding down the MRidge trail with little lighting. All of a sudden I stumble across a big whitetail buck! I was within 5 feet no lie, and it got spooked and ran next to me for like 15 seconds before ditching into the prairie. It was insanity and it scared the crap out of me!

That’s all I’ve got on a Wednesday…hope you enjoyed!

I am just too darn antsy. So all I really want to do right now is watch TV or play video games or organize the house or something nice and easy but my body won’t allow it.

Monday- Woke up at 4:15 (see below) and ran 6 miles. Then I went to the Y and played an hour of basketball. Not content with that we did rode the Gun Show loop at lunch. It was kind of funny since it was super windy. I rode the whole thing in my little ring. I can only imagine the RPM’s I was turning in my 39X12 going 31mph trying to chase. Went to the dog park after work to let the boys run. They are both Bark Park All-Stars. Needless to say, I was pretty shot last night. I fell asleep on the couch at 7:30, woke up at 8:30 and crawled into bed. Of course early to bed means early to rise…

Tuesday- Woke up at 4:40 this time (nice and late) and jumped on the bike. It was cold and windy. It actually got colder when I rode, it was 34 when I started and under 31 on the way home. My bottle even froze. I rode the Military Ridge to Mt Horeb and back, 33 miles on dirt. It was nice though except when I had to stop at a light with 2 miles to go and my fingers froze. Then I ate a good portion of Halloween junk all morning but Jess got me a 15 minute chair massage which was much needed. We then created the Run Show. It’s like the Gun Show but it’s running. We made it somewhat handicapped as to where the good runners will still win but the crappy runners won’t be as far behind. I ran just over 5.8 miles in just under 49 minutes. After all the working out I’ve done the last two days I’ll take it for sure. Tonight will be about the Trick or Treaters! Oh yeah, I even rocked a flu shot today too!

Wednesday will entail going to the mall, running some errands, some basketball and lots of chillin. At least that is what I think now…it’s always subject to change!

Quaker Steak anyone?

Talk about sucky! I finally trained my body to get up at 5:30 to work out in the morning again and then daylight savings time hits. Guh! It's 4:21am right now and I am wide awake! I am going to go for a quick run, then come home, get ready and then hopefully people are playing basketball...otherwise it's an early work day for me. How the hell am I supposed to stay up from 9-10 to watch Friday Night Lights? What a bunch of crap!

Halloween tomorrow, I am probably not dressing up. Maybe as a track star again so I can wear sweats at work!

Weekend was fun and relaxing, which is all the more reason I am awake right now. Corn Maze was fun, cider donuts were good, lots of football (Packers and Colts wins!) and good food! Supposed to hit 64 today so I might even log some bike miles today! Well I am off for the earliest run known to man! Have a great Monday!
