The Waffle House Chronicles...

Recap: Sunday was supposed to be a nice, relaxing break from reality. And it mostly was. Got up and did my normal Sunday morning routine. Took the dogs to the new Badger Prairie Dog Park as well which was cool and had some Kwik Trip coffee, which is actually my favorite, which is probably pretty lame. Jess and I then went to Super Target and got some stuff. Exciting morning. The afternoon was spent watching football while doing a huge amount of cleaning and organizing. We got the house to a pretty high level of cleanliness. Chilled out in the late afternoon and got ready for some guests for the Packers game. Our new friends Krystina and Cody (and their boxer Lola) joined us. From the start it was pandemonium. There is no turning off a boxer, so Chili and Lola just played, pretty much for 3-1/2 hours straight! It was fun to watch. The game was fun to watch until the end, which totally sucked! But the company was top-notch so the night wasn’t a total loss. Monday, however, was basically a total loss: tired, sore, bored and not feeling too well. Did head out to the dog park and I ate some tacos. Tuesday was similar, different dog park and thai food instead of tacos. Wednesday was very similar, except pizza and add in Chili’s dog class. Thursday more of the same, work, dog park and catching up on some TV. One class away from graduation. Work has been pretty interesting actually, should be a fun rest of the week!

My running career is at a standstill. I bruised my heel somehow and now it hurts to walk. Haven’t worked out on it since Saturday, hoping a week or so off will heal it up and if not, no big deal I’ll just find something else to do. So I haven’t done much this week.

Fun:
This guy fails to mention that there isn’t a refund policy as many of these athletes invested time and money into this event. While no one forced them to run his lack of compassion and understanding for those pursuing a goal is ignorant…guy probably never set a physical goal before. Probably an idiot sportswriter who thinks that there are only 4 sports. Yes I do believe in personal responsibility, I also don't try to kick people when they are down. Jerk.

Which leads to my next sory, how cool is this sport? While I consider myself an average video gamer, I have nothing but respect for these people. Growing up and old around a couple of the best video gamers I know, I can’t imagine the dedication it must take to be this good at one task like this. Which makes me wonder if I am missing the boat on video gaming by not being an on-line player, which seems like it would add a whole new dimension to gaming.

Finally this place has cool shirts. The coolest of the cool?

Woke up at 4am yesterday and couldn’t sleep anymore so I went down and watched Alpha Dog. That movie is epic, among the best of 2007 with lots of randoms. Similar to Disturbia but much better. Wednesday night I completed a computer game called Pandora’s Box. If you like puzzle games, I recommend it highly. Jess is also playing it and almost done. I’ll miss having it, I started in April of 2006 and played it off and on until last night. I’ll still fill in some bonus levels.

I wonder what the Riz is doing right now?

  • Hmm... at the time of the post, my alarm had just gone off and I quickly responded with "snooze." I got a call at 1 am, 2 am, and around 3 am.

At the time of reading this post I was trying to get other people to fix their stuff so I wouldn't get calls at 1 am, 2 am, and around 3 am.

    Yay Weekend!

  • I do think that everyone is being a little too hard on the race organizers, but holy crap... Talk about a sports writer with no respect for non-elite athletes. Thanks, Mark. Now I'm pissed off.

  • Writing op-ed pieces just to make people angry has to be one of the easiest jobs on the planet. "Bikes don't belong on the road" - 10,000 angry letters. "Lance Armstrong isn't a real athlete" - 22,000 angry e-mails. "I wish marathoners would just die already" - hundreds of angry bloggers.
