The Waffle House Chronicles...

A week in the life of Mark.

Tuesday morning I got my Starbucks and loved it. My order was Carmel Macchiato with skim milk and sugar free syrup. Checking on the Starbucks website, it’s actually not that bad for you and damn it was tasty. At 6am, 6 of the 8 cars I saw on the road turned into Starbucks. I can’t afford to go there much but I do plan to go there more often as it was one of the best cups I’ve ever had. That was about it for Tuesday (besides work and such.) Oh yeah, I also finished Midnight Club 3. If I knew I was only 1 race short of beating it I would’ve done it earlier. But now I am on to Jak & Daxter 3 which is awesome.

Wednesday I lifted before work. It was hard not to play basketball but my body thanks me for it. At lunch we went out to eat for Dean’s birthday. Wednesday evening we headed over to the in-laws for some supper and we played some games. Nice and laid back.

Thursday was Thanksgiving! Got up early and got some newspapers. Read them and we did lots of decision-making for Black Friday. It was a bummer not being able to do the Berbee Derby though. Went out to Jess’ cousin’s house and had some good eats and watched some football. That night we made our Black Friday plans, not as glorious in years past.

Black Friday: I got up at 4am, got dressed and headed to JC Penneys. Got a free snow globe (or 3) and headed to the mall which gave out $10 gift cards. Line was too long so I just went into the mall and toured Sears and Boston Store. Jess said Kohls was too difficult so she helped me try on suits at Boston Store which sucked and then we went back to Penneys and I finally bought a suit (and some socks.) Back to Boston Store because we had some sweet discounts. And I was Kelson-like and bought some Crocs. Not sure if I like them but they are comfy and will help my foot on the cruise because of the cushioning. Went over to Target to kill time before breakfast (plus they had a Starbucks so I got another Carmel Macchiato. Did breakfast and then I went home and played video games and hung out. Later that night we went to the movie Dan in Real Life (awesome) and then ordered some pizza.

Saturday: No basketball for me, but I went and lifted first thing. We headed to the new Super Wal-Mart which was big and empty and I liked it. Then we went to Java Cat and I tried their Carmel Macchiato and loved it as well. Went to East Towne and got some new shoes. Finally found almost exactly the type of shoe I was looking for. Took it easy the rest of the day and went out that night to the UW Volleyball game for Hez’s birthday. UW dominated. I went home right after the game but I guess everyone who went out had a good time.

Sunday: I didn’t sleep worth crap the last few days so the 10 hours I got started me off right. Read my paper and coffee then met Jess’ family for breakfast before her sister had to leave. We then went out and cut our Christmas Tree. What a splendid tree it is (a little short and a little crooked but beautiful.) Spent the afternoon collecting all the leaves. Which sucked because those in the shade were wet. But two hours later our yard is finally ready for winter. Went out for supper and I fell asleep on the couch.

Monday: It’s Ryan Braun day! Buying myself an early Christmas present today so that’ll be fun (if all goes well!)

Other news: Alright, judging by the lack of comments and the lack of fun topics to talk about (my life day-to-day just isn’t all that interesting) I am going to take a step back and reevaluate this blog. What started off as a blog about random stuff and Ironman training has now become nothing more than an encompassing journal of my boring life. Not sure where it will go from here (if anywhere) but hopefully I’ll get the direction figured out. For now, check back every once in a while and see if I’ve done anything and join Facebook and look me up. Facebook was probably cool two years ago which is why us 30-somethings (or upper 20-somethings) are finally using it. Plus I want to have more friends than (either) Balsley has.
